Mews and Nips: The Healing Power of Cats

Photo credit: John Burcham for The New York Times

Much has been written about the healing power of cats, and many of us have experienced it personally. Earlier this week, the New York Times featured Kate Benjamin of Hauspanther in an article that explores the growing popularity and acceptance of therapy animals. In the article, Kate shares how her cats are helping her cope with her breast cancer treatments. Visit The New York Times to read As Animal-Assisted Therapy Thrives, Enter the Cats.

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we celebrated Labor Day, on Tuesday, we reviewed the new Creamy Treats from Catit, on Wednesday, we shared information on studies that are exploring the origins of feline behavior, on Thursday, we featured adorable handmade cat beds, and on Friday, we celebrated Ruby’s 8th birthday.

Do your kitties try to get under the covers with you like the kitty in this sweet video? Ruby does this most nights, and my first cat, Feebee, did it, too.
